How does ISO 9001 work?

In order to implement ISO 9001, a linear cycle called PHVA is carried out, which involves the completion of 4 steps:

  • Planning: in this phase, the objectives of the system, the processes to be carried out and the resources required to meet customer needs and organisational policies are established, taking into account the risks and opportunities involved and addressing them.
  • Doing: In this phase, all of the above planned activities are implemented.
  • Verification: in this phase, the processes, products or services carried out with respect to the policies, objectives, requirements and activities developed are monitored, measured and the results are reported.
  • Action: in this last phase, decisions are taken on the basis of the results to improve performance where necessary.
