Our customer, an industrial company that operates patents all over the world, has decided to launch an ambitious IT plan, updating its current IT infrastructure. They also will split the company into two large business units, separated physically and legally. The objective of the project is to develop a project of technological updating and migration to the Cloud of everything that makes sense, dividing the infrastructures into two different virtual units prepared for the split, and execute together with the IT team of the company this plan, which affects systems, applications, telephony and telecommunications.
The IT infrastructure is most obsolete, after several years of reduction in investments, which is why urgent action is needed. The split of the company into two units, makes the Cloud considered as the most appropriate solution, as it provides flexibility and optimization of resources. In addition, the IT staff is minimal, so a solution of this type is the best for the company.
We performed an intensive analysis of the infrastructure of servers, storage, network, applications, voice and telecommunications, identifying where there was urgent action, what can be virtualized or not and where there would be problems (licensing, type of application, etc.) doing it. An inventory of IT assets was also carried out to identify what should go to each business unit. We identified the most important criteria for making applications location decisions (Cloud Public, Private, Hybrid, on-premise) and we recommended uploading to the Cloud as much as possible, presenting a report with alternatives and costs for each one of them. The Cloud option was finally selected.
The IT staff had no experience in Cloud environments, so our support in the migration was critical.
We helped the client in the migration to the systems’ cloud doing most of the work: building ESXs, virtualizing servers and applications (including email), deploying security policies, disaster recovery and improvement of data telecommunications.
